About the race

One of the largest races in Alberta – come watch as machines reach incredible speeds and challenge each other to cross the finish line!

The race that started Sno Mo Days. Join the hundreds of people that come out on the long weekend and take in the excitement of snowmobile drag racing.


Racing at 12 noon

Registration: Agliplex from 9 am to 11 am

Mini sleds will race at 2:30 pm (after the novelty races).

- All provincial laws pertaining to insurance and vehicle registration are in effect as Alberta Beach Lions can not alter the laws and the event is on public property

- Upon the conclusion of the races, presentations will take place to be announced. First, second and third place winners in all classes (except King of Snow events) will receive awards. For the improved and specialty classes (with the exception of the mini class) a 50% payback of total entry fees for each class will be awarded to first and second place winners. The King of Snow events have only one winner and they will be awarded an 80% payback of entry fees for their event.

-There is no fan-cooled in stock or improved class.

-Stock and improved stock can move up a class in their category as per director's discretion.

-There are liquid and fan classes within the Vintage drag class.

-No alcohol or Drugs anywhere!

-There is a $10.00 medical fee for each participant

B- SNOW DRAG GENERAL INFORMATION

All machines must have valid liability insurance.

All riders must wear a helmet whenever sled is in motion – pits, staging, everywhere.

All riders must wear an approved helmet, proper eye protection, and suitable clothing while on the track.

Vintage Fan cooled class – minimum age 14 yrs.

All other classes except youth classes – minimum age 16 yrs.

Youth classes 15 years and younger

C- MACHINES

Sled # goes on both sides of hood or windshield.

Must have functional tether

Tether cords must be attached to the operator whenever sled is running above idle speed.

Must have functional clutch & belt guards.

Any sled with picks must have track enclosed by tunnel & secured full length snow flap.

Every driver must have a snowmobile and sign a waiver.

D- TECH, PITS, STAGING, RETURN LANE

All sleds must go through tech inspection. You may not leave the pits once teched.

We reserve the right to inspect any sled at any time for any reason.

Pit speed limit 10 km/h

Return lane limit 30 km/h

Ski lifting or dangerous driving in pits or return lane may result in disqualification.

NO lifting rear of sled by hand & spinning the track!

Must use a suitable track stand to spin track. Use caution & be aware of bystanders – especially behind the machine.

E- RACE

Track length, 500 feet

Race order & lane position will be posted on race board.

Rider is responsible to know their heats & lanes and be ready in staging.

If you are not going to be in your heat, tell the director so there is no delay in race’s.

Rider only in staging & at the start line

Must start & finish in the assigned lane.

False or jump start may be scored as a loss.

Rider must have BOTH feet on running boards from start to finish.

Return to pits in order of finish.

Finish positions will be determined by finish line ONLY!

No discrepancies regarding finish position will be discussed once down return lane.

Race director is solely responsible for final decisions.

Protests of another sled must be submitted by two drivers in the same class. May only be submitted by drivers. Fee $250 cash. If found legal, the money goes to sled that was torn down.

For all issues - Race officials will consider polite requests only. Arguing may result in disqualification. REMEMBER –everyone here is a volunteer!

F- 2025 CLASS RULES

If you are not sure what category your sled fits into, please ASK WHEN REGISTERING

NOTE: 440/ 600 Snowcross sleds will not be able to run in any stock class. They must enter the improved or mod classes

All sleds MUST HAVE functional tether

Rubber tracks only, unless a stock original part

No picks in any class except mod & Open King of the Snow

All factory turbo sleds must have a factory silencer to run in the Stock King of the Snow

Sleds with factory turbos and after market silencer would run in the improved/mountain/open classes

G- MINI RULES

- Stock class – must be factory engine, exhaust & gears

- 120 Improved – must have factory engine, factory chassis

- Open Mini – Must be a single cylinder engine in a mini sled chassis

H- ​VINTAGE RULES

-Must be 1981 or older

I- YOUTH RULES

- Must be 15 years or younger

- Parent must sign a waiver

- Competency evaluation must be completed prior to racing

- Sled must have factory single pipe exhaust

J- STOCK RULES

• NOT ALLOWED: Any Modification Which May Increase Power, Lower Weight Such As, But Not Limited To:

Non-original pipes or mufflers, internal or external engine mods, – carb / intake / rotary valve / reed changes, removal of or lightweight chassis parts.

Traction products – picks / screws

-Aftermarket cans on stock turbos

ALLOWED:

Carb/clutch/chassis tuning and adjusting.

Max overbore 0.020.”

Any rubber track, any track drivers, tunnel, and rail extensions.

Add/remove idler wheels

Suspension tie downs – but must maintain 2” travel.

Removal of windshield & hood grilles

Replacement of stock airbox with air filters

External jetting systems

Replacement chassis parts at director’s discretion.

Bolt in’ after market parts in stock clutches, after market can/silencer on naturally aspirated engine

K- CLASSIC RULES

-Same rules as stock/improved stock, must have oem eng and cyl

- Must be 1995 and older

-No traction products allowed

-Chassis and engine must match the year of the sled

L- MOUNTAIN RULES

-factory or custom built chassis and/or engines permitted

-functional clutch/belt guards

-full travel suspension, minimum 6” downward travel, no limiting

-chassis and engine must be in ‘mountain ride-able’ configuration

-minimum 141x2” track. No lug trimming

-no traction products

M- IMPROVED STOCK

NOT ALLOWED:

Stroke changes

Boring beyond 1% over class cc limit

Nitrous hardware-functional or not

Picks / Traction products

ALLOWED (ALL ITEMS ALLOWED IN ‘STOCK’ PLUS ANY):

Fuel

Clutches

Silenced exhaust

Airbox / filters

Cooling system mods

Bored stock carbs

Engine block must be stock for the model.

Internal engine mods-porting etc.

Big bore kits to 1% over class limit

‘Same brand’ engine swaps at directors’ discretion

2 ONLY ADDITIONAL LIGHTWEIGHT REPLACEMENT/ MODS SUCH AS, NOT LIMITED TO:

Rolled chain case.

Front suspension

Rear suspension

Hood / seat / body panels

Jackshaft + drive axle

Removal/lightening of chassis parts.

N. OPEN MOD RULES

- Traction products are allowed

-Tunnel enclosures must be used when running traction products

-Power adders allowed

-Tech vest or equipment is mandatory
